Mall of Africa

At the heart of Waterfall is the Mall of Africa, a 116 000 square meter shopping centre. The combination of its sheer scale – it is larger than Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront and will rival Sandton City in size and breadth – this landmark design is set to change the face of the Midrand area.

Mall of Africa will create a destination that is defined by its exciting architecture and first class shopping experience for local shoppers and tourists alike – with broadband Wi-Fi coverage throughout, via a fibre optic cable.

Mall of Africa is a super-regional shopping centre that is intended to serve the large and growing community that is living and working in and around the Waterfall Estate.

Getting there is simple – Mall of Africa is directly accessible from Maxwell Drive or from the N1 via Allandale Road and is about a half-hour’s drive away from either Lanseria Airport or O.R. Tambo International Airport.

Development and construction of the Mall of Africa are being undertaken by WBHO, Group Five and Atterbury Property

On-going projects

For this project OFT is responsible for more than 350 splices and testing of cable at Mall of Africa in Midrand for the CCTV network.

These splices are done at different towers all around the mall.

Adidas / Reebok

Adidas is a German multinational corporation that designs and manufactures sports shoes, clothing and accessories headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Bavaria. It is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe and the second biggest in the world, after Nike.

It is the holding company for the Adidas Group, which consists of the Reebok sportswear company, Taylor Made-Adidas golf company (including Ashworth), 9.1% of FC Bayern Munich and Runtastic, an Austrian fitness company. Adidas revenue for 2012 was listed at €14.88 billion.

Adidas was founded on 18 August 1949 by Adolf Dassler, following a family feud at the Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik company between him and his older brother Rudolf. Rudolf had earlier established Puma, which quickly became the business rival of Adidas and is also headquartered in Herzogenaurach.

The company’s clothing and shoe designs typically feature three parallel bars, and the same motif is incorporated into Adidas’s current official logo. The brand name is appropriately un-capitalized, with a lower case “a”.
